Kate Tailyour proves green is the new black for Spring Summer 09
Kate Tailyour Spring Summer 09 collection could be described as a guilty pleasure... however, this season the collection promises to be guilt free as the introduction of fair-trade silk and organic cotton are used in a number of styles and garments.
Kate’s unique designs and creative flare are proof that ethical fashion need not be boring, yet fun and wearable. Styles include fair-trade cotton scoop shorts, in powder grey and a softer, subtle option of pink. Subtle and feminine the shade has become the seasons newest neutral, and teamed with the fair-trade fleck cotton shirt, the look has a relaxed tailored approach to everyday summer dressing. The collection is produced entirely in the UK, maintaining a low carbon footprint and incorporates fair-trade cottons and silk from India and Nepal as well as organic silk organza.
The new Spring Summer 09 collection is presented by Alex Evans, the winner of Britain’s Next Top Model bringing alive her urban London chic to this relaxed luxury collection.
The fabrics are sophisticated and simple, incorporating silk satin, jerseys, and gorgeous prints and weaves. The range includes contemporary separates, with sports inspired details, unique panelling and fabric combinations. Kate’s signature wearable separates are featured in the collection.
Kate has just won the Westfocus Enterprising Business Awards and with the other winners will receive access to a £10,000 service support fund and will also get a six-month business support programme worth £1500. Kate Tailyour has also gained recognition this year with the British Council, as a finalist for the first ever UK Young Fashion Entrepreneur Award, which aims to recognise the importance of entrepreneurship in the UK’s creative economy. The finalists have taken part in a specially tailored tour of India’s fashion industry to gain an insight into one of the worlds fast developing and most dynamic economies. On May the 7th join us at the British Library for an ethical entrepreneur special looking at fashion with the Indian Influence! Kate will be joining Ben Ramsden, CEO of Pants to Poverty.
